Trash
By: Andy Mulligan
Pages: 40-159
Prompt:
-Do you like what you are reading? Why or why not?
-How does this book make you feel? Why?
-What does this book remind you of?

I like what I am reading because it is very engaging. I also like what I am reading because it is also very exciting and you have not of the slightest idea of what is going to happen next. It is engaging because I like that fact that there are multiple people telling their different perspectives on the story that happened. It allows you to learn about what happened to the different characters and how what the 3 boys did influenced them. It makes you really pay attention to everything that happens and that makes you engaged into the book. It is exciting because you have no idea of what could happen next. Considering that the boys are on the run and that they are wanted, anything can happen. They could get caught, get rich, or even buy a boat and the reader could never see it coming. It is also exciting because sometimes they plan things out and as they are following their plan, it could either go exactly as planned or could totally fail.

This book makes me feel a little confused and makes me be more attentive. It makes me feel a little confused because the characters sometimes switch perspectives and don't tell the reader who is telling the story. It usually says who is telling the story but it can still get confusing. Another thing that can get confusing is memorizing the characters. It is a little hard to memorize each character and their part in the story. For example, for a while I forgot who Olivia was, then after reading a couple pages of her perspective of the story, I remembered who she was. It makes the be more attentive because the story slowly gets pieces and pieces of puzzle together. I say story because every character is telling a story that ties into what the book is about. As each person tells their perspective it ties into what the whole book is about.

This book reminds me of a detective's job. It reminds me of a detective's job because the book is mainly about the different characters telling their story as if they were being questioned by somebody. It also reminds me of a detective's job because of the work that the 3 main characters are doing. The three main characters are Rat(aka Jun-Jun), Raphael, and Gardo. They find something thinking it it just a simple thing. Then they start to investigate into that thing and soon find out that it is very important. They go around finding people and asking questions to get a better understanding of the thing they found.

Trash
By: Andy Mulligan
Pages: 0-40
Prompt:
-Draw 3 objects that represent you're reading. Explain how they connect to the book you've been reading

The first picture is a big pile of trash. It relates to the story because the main character and his very close best friend work as picking out reusable and or usable stuff out of garbage piles. An example would be like plastic. This picture also reminds me of the book cover. On the book cover there is a picture of the main character and his best friend standing on a mountain of trash.

The second picture is a rat. It relates to the story because in the book the main character says that there are a lot of rats at night. The main character's best friend gets bit by a rat in the story also. Another way that this picture of this rat relates to the story is that the main character has a friend who's name is Rat. Rat is a type of person that could be moving and no one would notice. He is poor and always wearing the same clothes. He also has no family to go to.

The third picture is a picture of key. It relates to the story because in the story the main character finds a bag containing valuable stuff. That valuable stuff was a good handful of money, a wallet, and a key. They don't know what the key is for but they soon realize it is important when the police come looking for a bag. That key turns out to be to a locker.

mockingbird
(mok'ing-bûrd)
By: Kathryn Erskine
Pages: 1-76
Prompt:
-Are the characters realistic? Why or why not?
-Is what you are reading believable? Why or why not?
-What is the mood of what you are reading?

The character in the story are realistic because they have the same traits as a real world person would have. For example, the main character Caitlin has Aspergers syndrome. Aspergers syndrome is a real thing that people can have. Another example is Devon. Devon is not present in the story because he died, but the Caitlin talks about him. She talks about how he was in boy scouts, played baseball, and played basketball. Someone in the real world could do that too.

What I am reading is believable because the things that happen to the family could happen in the real world. In the story, there was a shooting at a school and the main character's brother died. Unfortunately, in real life that could happen too. Another example is that the father of the boy who passed away in the shooting was constantly crying. That is believable because it is common that when a person passes, people grieve and miss them.

The mood of what I am reading is has the mood as a mixture of sadness, frustration, and confusion. It is sad because of the main character's brother passing away. The mood is also frustration because the main character sometimes gets frustrated because she can't quite get the connection between the people making the faces that they make and the mood that that person in feeling. The mood is also a little bit confusing because the  main character sometimes gets confused and doesn't as she call it "Get It". She doesn't get why people do the things that they do.

The Last Time I Did Something For The First Time

Beware of The Ice Cream Sundae

The last time I did something for the first time was Wednesday. My cousins and I made a crazy ice cream sundae. It had ice cream, whipped cream, cottage cheese, chocolate syrup, peanuts, cherries, bananas, cinnamon, and a little bit of fruit punch. It looked absolutely disgusting, slimy, and sticky.

My cousins and I were daring everyone else to try it first. "I dare you to try it" said one of my cousins. "Two bucks if you try it first" said my other cousin. "Make it 20 bucks" my oldest cousin said. I eventually got tired of all the daring.

Although it was slimy, I volunteered to try it first. I picked up the spoon and put a little bit of everything on the spoon. Everything kept on falling off and I couldn't the the fruit punch. Then, I ate it. It was appalling. I couldn't eat it and had to spit it back out. I spent the rest of the day with that taste in my mouth. Although the end results weren't positive, at least I tried something new.
